THE GRANNIES

LittleBook: Most memorable moment as a band?

The Grannies: playing out first gig July 1999 @ The Paradise Lounge/SF. We didn't really know how wearing dresses was going to go over. We did it like we've done everything since; We raised our arms in mock triumph and killed 'em.

LB: favorite pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual ??

TG: Extreme ironing, an adventure sport for people who like laundry...both pre and post. Oh and beer.

LB: what’s the hardest thing about being a San Francisco Band??

TG: Nothing we take pride in it. In all senses of the word.

LB: what do you want people to know about your band??

TG: We are the most powerful band ever, with five sets of interchangeable laser eyeballs, and extendable Octo-claw colostomy bags.

LB: Where can I get your CD , & where did you record it??

TG: We are working on our 5th Album (Hot Flashes) available early 2009. We're recording in Oakland, Ca w/ Brian Hood & Noah Landis (Everything Must go). and mixing it w/ Jack Endino in Seattle, WA. LB: Favorite San Francisco Band, TV Show and Venue?? TG: Night Ranger, Harold and Maude, and Annie's Social club.

Oct 10th 9pm @ THEE PARKSIDE, SF

Badstrip

LittleBook: Your most memorable moment as a band?

Badstrip: The night some girls invited us back to their place to be spanked.. we were willing and able!! :)

LB: favorite pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual ??

BS: Rally shot of tequila. We once asked a club to give us a large bowl of M&M's and remove all of the brown ones. PBR is on all of our riders.

LB: Hardest thing about being a San Francisco Band??

BS: SF's rock scene blows but we make the best of it. Our small scene is mostly comprised of people and other bands that we know, all trying to support one another so you see a lot of the same faces at shows.

LB: What's next for Badstrip?

BS: A NW trip in Sept/Oct and writing songs for a new CD.

LB: Where can I get your CD, where did you record it??

BS: iTunes, Recorded @ Scrapyardsound Oakland Ca.

LB: Favorite San Francisco Band?? BS: Black Furies, All Time Highs, and Cobretti!

LB: Favorite TV Show or Movie filmed in San Francisco??

BS: BULLITT and any Dirty Harry movie.

LB: Favorite venue to Play??

BS: Great American Music Hall was the best so far.. but Anywhere that will let us play, throw us some gas money and beer, beyond the 2 drink ticket bullshit is alright.

Company Car

LittleBook: Most memorable moment as a band?

Company Car: Opening for the Smoking Popes at Slim's, & getting lost in Seattle at 2am after playing the High Dive. It was a Tuesday night so there were no cars on the streets. Our GPS hated us, we had no idea where we were. Then we saw this giant stone troll. We've got great video footage of Noah jumping off of that troll.

LB: Any pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual ??

CC: I used to drink Redbull and vodka right before I went onstage. This is clearly very unhealthy. Redbull may give you wings, but vodka doesn’t help you sing or play guitar.

LB: What are you doing next ??

CC: One of our songs will be preloaded onto 2 million Creative Labs MP3 players. We have a Halloween show with No Use For a Name at Bottom of the Hill, and we are recording a new EP this fall.

LB: what's up with your CD, where did you record it??

CC: We recorded our first CD “Collars” at Faultline Studios in SF. (faultlinesf.com) You can get it at all of our shows, Emusic, iTunes, CDbaby… You can find it all over.

LB: Favorite San Francisco Band??

CC: Now: Cast of Thousands, Then: Faith No More, Primus, Jellyfish, and Green Day.

LB: Favorite venue to Play??

CC: Bottom of the Hill, Everyone there is super cool and they really notice and appreciate hard working bands.

Friends of Lester

The saying is true, the Band that plays together stays together, and the Friends of Lester know, it's all about having fun. The core three members, Jay Denton, Matt Bowhall and Nick Pack started playing together in Belmont in 1989. The eclectic group of budding musicians found inspiration in bands like Aerosmith and the Nazz. Squeezing into a stuffy garage most weekends, learning Led Zeppelin Covers, and then began writing music of their own. Check out some of their original tunes available for download on their MySpace site. Over the years members have come and gone, performing all over the world in more forms than could be described here. The trio still gets together to play their own form of over the top progressive rock and experimental music, making brief appearances over the years in random San Francisco clubs. See them play 1 night only Tuesday October 21st @ El Rincon, 16th & Harrison st. San Francisco, 8pm sharp, Don't miss this one.
