LittleBook: Why did you start a band?? Midnight Bombers: Duh, for the chicks! (or dudes...ahem, that was Jerry)
LB: How did you find each other?? MB: Through a series of failed band attempts, Every time we would crash and burn a band we would pick up a member and form a new band, start over. LB: what's your most memorable moment as a band, ?? MB: I'd say our Northwest tour last year, it was a great time when we really got to focus on just being a band and not think about our day jobs and daily life shit. LB: favorite pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual ?? MB: We usually spank each other, y'know in a baseball player kind of way. LB: What do you drink at practice?? MB: I love the Amstél light but I gotta say as a band we go for Tecaté or if we are lucky Buick's Home brew (the ladies know what I'm talking about...*wink*). LB: what's the hardest thing about being a San Francisco Band?? MB: Getting folks out to shows, there is always a lot of competition and lots of fun stuff going on around town.. not to mention everyones broke. LB: what do you want people to know about your band, what are you doing next?? MB: We have a record in the works. We have 11 songs almost through the pre-production process and are 1/4 of the way through the 12th. It's going to be harder and tighter than our first record...We hope to get it out by early spring of next year it's called "Dirty Business". LB: what's up with your CD where can I get it, where did you record it?? MB: Evil Streets is out ...that's our last record, We wrote and recorded it ourselves, Eball did most of the tech work, mixing etc... and Jerry did the graphic design. You can get it at CD baby or Ameoba in the Haight for $5. LB: Favorite San Francisco Band or a memorable show?? MB: Well we are whores for the Grannies, those old birds never let you down. As far as Shows I gotta say we played a show out in concord with the Dickies earlier this year that was kick ass. LB: Favorite venue to Play?? MB: Tough call between Annies and The Parkside... They are both great venues with great staff. This time around I gotta say Annies on Saturday November 8th (cuz we are playing our first show in like 6 months and playing most of the new record!) with New American Mob and Inferno of Joy. |
TRIXIE: Originally to get a boyfriend when i was sixteen...then it just kind of stuck, what's hotter than two beautiful women in matching outfits rockin your ass off? You tell me! LB: How did you find each other?? TR: Actually through an ad, then we secretly jammed, it's like we were having an affair or something... LB: What's your most memorable moment as a band?? TR: When Kitty kicked a fan in the face for knocking into her drums whilst she was playing and spilled her drink! Then he got thrown out! LB: Favorite pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual?? TR: Jameson's and Chimays, before, during and after. LB: What do you drink at practice?? TR: Champers, champag-nee, beer, wine, no water, we're deathly allergic to it! LB: What’s the hardest thing about being a San Francisco Band?? TR: Playing for a jaded older audience, we love the kids! LB: What do you want people to know about your band, what are you doing next?? TR: We wanna travel the world, working on a new record deal with a few labels and aiming for Euro, Japan and Brazil in 2009. LB: What's up with your CD where can I get it, where did you record it?? TR: We were named Amoeba's "Home Grown" band!! Our new cd's called "Get A Grip" on Good Trouble Records, recorded at Center of the Mile studios in SF by Donny Newenhouse. You can get it at all Amoeba stores and interpunk.com LB: Favorite San Francisco Band or a memorable show?? TR: That's easy...Inferno of Joy, they're so foxy I can't get to sleep at night. LittleBook:
Why and How did you become a DJ @ Pirate cat Radio??
Bassy Stacy:
I became a Pirate Cat DJ because I had a metal show before on the Fox radio
station in Santa Rosa called the mosh pit. I love music. All kinds. I
fortunately grew up with metal.
LB:
What's your most memorable moment as DJ??
BS:
My Most memorable moments would be when I interviewed Jason Gellis (Suburban
Death Camp & WarKrime) cause he is so witty. Also, when I interviewed Dave
Brokie (singer of Gwar) he is so funny.
LB: What do you drink during the show? BS: Beer & water :)
LB:
What’s the hardest thing about being at an underground radio station??
BS:
The hardest thing would be that the record company's & some bands don't take
you seriously yet. Also, you have to pay dues & work hard to get bands on
the air.
LB:
What's the best thing about being at an underground radio station?? BS: The best thing would be that you can say & do pretty much whatever you want. Pretty much....
LB:
What do you want people to know about your show, what are you doing next?? BS: I want people to know that my show is about hard music & will always be different & entertaining. I am not a professional fake dj. I am real. I am having fun. Next I am hoping to get more live bands in the studio. Has to be acoustic which metal bands can do if they tried.
LB:
How can people listen to your show?? BS: People can listen to my show Sunday's 3pm to 5pm pacific time in S.F, some parts of L.A. & Berlin. Also, online @ www. piratecatradio. com & on iTunes.
LB:
Favorite San Francisco Band or a memorable show?? BS: My favorite S.F. band right now is actually Saros. My favorite show would be when some members of Destroyer (kiss tribute band) played live.
LB:
Favorite venue to see a show in SF?? BS: My favorite venue to see a show in S.F. is The Great American Music Hall. I've played there too.
LB:
You also play music too, right??
BS:
Yes, I play bass, and work on my own stuff. |

Moving the Band From Seattle to San Francisco in 1979 The Lewd along with other local SF Bay Area bands like Flipper, VKTMs, No Alternative, Dead Kennedys helped create the 80's Hardcore sound SF became known for. While The Lewd's records have been out of print for years, songs from the "Kill Yourself" single have reappeared on a few '70s punk compilations. Recently, all their material was compiled onto a bootleg vinyl release entitled "The Lewd - Complete Discography". At last, the Lewd's material has been officially made available on CD by Seattles own Chuckie Boy Records, including a slew of never-before-released early demos and outtakes. The Lewd have had their songs covered by bands such as The Loudmouths, Turbonegro, The Dipshits and The Safety Pins. Yet no one can totally recreate that demented Lewd sound, so check them out Live Nov. 28th @ the Bottom of the Hill, All Ages show!!
